Military Authorities will have been free of charge to them except in respect of money spent on constructional work. The Director of Public Works will of course be glad to discuss with Colonel Davy his figures regarding the valuation of the land,

10. With regard to the general question, the Army Council in its letter of the 30th June, 1921, agreed that the British battalion should be placed at Gun Club Hill and that the native troops should be moved from the Whit- field site to the Shatin Pass area. This Government is amrious to press on the construction of the necessary barrack accommodation at the earliest possible date, and it would expedite matters if Colonel Davy could be authorised to discuss with the Director of Public Works details as to land and buildings required.

I have the honour to be, sir.

Your Excellency's most obedient servant,

(Sd.) R. E. STUBBS,

Governor, &8.
